Black Women and girls have been slaying since the beginning of time, but lately the level of slayage has been at an all time high. Although we are getting more of our much deserved recognition, there still aren’t enough outlets to share and encourage women of color to accept, appreciate, and feel confident in their natural ability to slay. As a blogger advocating for black girls like me, I decided to expand the quaint revolt mission and create a new hub to uplift, highlight, and inspire brown girls across the globe. #BLACKGIRLSBESLAYING is my way of standing in solidarity with and documenting the shift currently taking place in Black culture and with the way women view themselves.
Everywhere I turn, there is a Black girl giving pure life, while basking in her God given brown girl magic as it radiates ever so majestically. There is no denying that we are snatching wigs and no longer letting society define, restrict or ostracize us. These neo, postmodernist women are not only acquiring high-ranking positions (and creating their own), they are also demanding the removal of barriers by being self-assured, confident, and spiritually connected. The result? Unbothered blackness. Yes! WOC are doing more than their fair share to fundamentally restructure the imposed standards. Join me with #BGBS in celebrating the women in our lives and out in the world, fighting in a battle unique to us. Here are some of the most recent examples of black girls slaying.
