It was announced yesterday at the Billboard awards that my favorite fast fashion retailer, H&M, will debut another one of their designer collaborations. This time, the brand tapped French fashion house Balmain, led by Creative Director Olivier Rousteing. The collection will entail both women and menswear and already has a supporting hashtag #HMBalmainnation, proving they are aiming to dominate the Fall season, as well the the social sphere. From the initial looks, worn by supermodel Jourdan Dunn, Kendall Jenner, and Rousteing himself, the selections will almost replicate items in previous collections from the brand. There’s no doubt in my mind that there will be unique designs mixed in, but I can already tell that we’re getting a collection that epitomizes Balmain’s couture edge and French cool girl/guy style. Seriously, those thigh-high boots will have women fighting each other, I can see it now!
Come November, I am hoping to see that beaded blazer (on Kendall) in my closet, prices that are truly affordable, and items that aren’t merely lower quality copies of already produced Balmain pieces. The bigger the designer, the more financially steep the collections become, and they sell out much faster. A girl can only wish to get in on pieces with as little turbulence as possible, right? Yeah…
